Continuous Steel Grinding Ball Skew Rolling Mill

Continuous Steel Grinding Ball Skew Rolling Mill

The Continuous Steel Grinding Ball Skew Rolling Mill is designed for high-volume production of steel grinding balls through a continuous hot skew rolling process. Unlike batch forming methods that handle billets individually, the mill maintains a continuous material flow from billet feeding to ball forming and discharge.

Why Choose Continuous Skew Rolling

High Production Capacity - Continuous ball formation supports production rates of up to 25 t/h, depending on ball diameter and machine configuration.

Stable Material Flow - Continuous feeding reduces interruptions caused by repeated billet loading and unloading.

Lower Manual Handling - Automated feeding, conveying and process coordination reduce routine material handling.

Production Line Integration - The rolling mill can be matched with heating, conveying, quenching and tempering equipment for continuous production.

Continuous Skew Rolling Mechanism

Continuous Feeding
Heated round steel bars are continuously fed into the rolling zone at a controlled rate, maintaining a stable material flow.

Forward Movement and Rotation
The crossed rolls rotate in the same direction, causing the billet to rotate and advance while the helical grooves progressively deform the material.

Progressive Ball Formation
As the billet passes through the grooves, it is gradually formed into a series of spherical sections according to the groove geometry.

Successive Ball Separation
The connecting sections between adjacent balls are reduced during rolling, allowing individual hot grinding balls to separate and discharge continuously.

Continuous Steel Ball Production

The production flow can be organized as:
Round Steel Bar → Heating → Continuous Feeding → Skew Rolling → Ball Separation → Conveying → Quenching → Tempering

Each stage can be coordinated with the rolling output to maintain continuous material flow.

Production Capacity and Output

The mill is configured for production capacities from 0.5 to 25 t/h, depending on ball diameter and machine configuration. Actual output is determined by ball diameter, round bar size, rolling speed, groove design, material and feeding rate.

Actual production capacity depends on the selected machine configuration and production parameters, including:

  • Grinding ball diameter
  • Round bar size
  • Steel grade and material temperature
  • Roll rotational speed
  • Groove design
  • Feeding rate
  • Required production schedule

FAQ

Q: What information is needed for equipment quotation?

A: Please provide the required ball diameter, production capacity, round bar size and steel grade for equipment selection and quotation.

Q: Can the mill be integrated with an existing grinding ball production line?

A: Yes. The rolling mill can be integrated with existing heating, conveying, quenching and tempering equipment, subject to process and capacity matching.

Q: How is the roll groove changed when switching ball sizes?

A: Changing ball sizes normally requires a corresponding roll groove configuration. The replacement method depends on the selected mill design.

Q: What quality checks are recommended for finished grinding balls?

A: Typical checks include ball diameter, roundness, surface defects, hardness distribution and breakage performance according to the required quality standard.

Q: What technical documents are supplied with the equipment?

A: Typical documentation includes equipment drawings, operating instructions, electrical documentation, maintenance information and recommended spare-parts lists.

Q: What factors determine the final mill configuration?

A: The configuration is mainly determined by ball diameter, target capacity, round bar size, steel grade and required production flow.
